Move to feel… Power ~ National Fitness Day 2026

16th September marks National Fitness Day 2026, an annual campaign run by UK Active to celebrate the role physical activity plays across the UK, raising awareness of its importance in helping people lead healthier lifestyles.

This year’s theme is ‘Powered by You”, which highlights the role that everyone must play in creating opportunities to be active.

For us at Total Fitness, this concept ties perfectly with our ‘Move to Feel…’ campaign which aims to encourage members to see fitness differently. We’re encouraging members to take a 360 approach to fitness, encompassing both physical and mental wellbeing into their workout routines because fitness is about more than how you look.

Move to feel… Power

Power in a gym is about more than strength or speed. It takes power to turn up for the first time. To join a new class. To try a new piece of equipment.

It takes power to show up for yourself, whether that’s on the gym floor, in the pool, in a class or even for a moment of recovery in the heat treatment rooms.

This is why we’re passionate about exercise not being one dimensional. We offer eight different ways to keep fit in our clubs, aiming to give every member the power to control their own fitness journey and move the goal posts as they need to.

Power… to go another mile.

If cardio is your thing, then feeling strong enough to push yourself for that extra mile is a great way to make small gains towards a bigger result.

Whether that’s on the treadmill, bike or even on our running tracks at select clubs, finding the physical and mental power to go that little bit further than usual is a great way to leave the gym feeling on top.

Power… to do one more rep.

When it comes to strength training, going heavier isn’t always achievable but that doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck where you are.

Even the commitment to take one more rep when your body is shaking and your muscles are ready to rest can give you a huge sense of achievement that will motivate you to carry on pushing yourself to do more.

Power… to try something new.

With a 360 approach to fitness in each club, it’s never been more accessible to try something new… but that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

We know pushing yourself out of your comfort zone and trying something different can take guts, but with our friendly team ready to support as you need and plenty of options to choose from, we’re putting the power to mix things up in your hands.

Power… to make connections.

Fitness is for the mind as much as the body and socialising is a great way to release endorphins and build confidence.

Our classes are a great way to give you the power to meet new people and try new things in a safe environment. Each of our clubs hosts over 70 classes a week which guarantees plenty of opportunity to find something you love and meet great people along the way.

Power… to slow things down

It takes real self-awareness to integrate recovery into your routine. We’re conditioned to think achieving more means always pushing ourselves but a key part of succeeding in your fitness journey is to know when to slow down.

All 15 of our clubs have hydropools as well as a selection of heat treatment rooms including saunas and steam rooms. These facilities give you the power to add recovery and relaxation to your weekly routine.

So, how does power feel to you? What do you move to feel?
